Welcome to the "All Systems How to Sprite" Topic. Spriting (Sprite-ing) is easy to learn you can become a very good spriter just by making a few sprites.
This is for all systems, Can be done on (2k-VX) so all systems.
Some things to know about spriting:
Its very easy to sprite it just matters what you are going to make.
A good sprite can be made by anyone. 2k3 spritesheets attributes are 288x256 pixels. Always remember to save a sprite as 256 BMP or PNG.
Its best to get a base to draw on if you are going to sprite. Or just put things together.
What program to use: To start we are going to need a program to draw the sprites with, My favourite is paint because its user-friendly and it wont confuse you... ever. So if you like easy put that on your notes "Program to sprite: Microsoft Paint". There are many other programs to sprite with, like Photoshop, Fireworks, GIMP. Most of those need hours of practicing before using. So once again if you don't know how to use any editors, just use paint. Also 2k3 is Very 2d so Photoshop etc, won't do good in making sprites.
Putting a sprite together: If you can't draw Armour, or don't know how to make specific clothes, you can do what most basic spriters do if they see something that they like; Crop cut and paste Known as CCP. So if you see a sprite that has purple armour, blonde hair, green shoes... And you think it looks ugly but you like the armour you simply either recolour the boots/hair or you CCP some other hair/shoes and put it together.
Small Example:
Well thats is a tutorial of how I sprite. Hope you enjoyed it and learn't something.
This guide was made by me, if you found a mistake please tell me. I only made this because I was bored. So if you think this sucks and doesn't teach you anything. Then simply press the BACK button and forget about this because this is a way used by many beginners. But if you liked this then you rock!
Example 2:
Begin Cropping out the face for the hair you want.
Begin to place it:
