Welcome to Assi's first ever MAPPING TUTORIAL
Ok, this is my first tutorial in mapping so and I havent read mapping tutorials for VX before so yeah. Listen carefully do as you are asked and we may begin.
Before I start: THIS IS MY MAPPING TECHNIQUES I've seen many other mapping techniques but I have my own style.
Represent! Also this is for VX. XP & 2k3 have layers and stuff but you may do this on other engines I will be using VX for an Example.
______________________________________________________
Step 1:
We are going to make a field for this tutorial. Open up your Engine make a new map at any width or Height I recommend 30x20 (30=W and 20=H)
Step 2: Flood the place with green lush to begin with. Use the fill tool (It is a bucket pouring something down). It should look like this.
Step 3: Now we want to make this very decorative so grab the Long grass and use the pencil tool and just scribble around till' it looks good. Don't just make scribbles make some squarish spots Don't also make single tiles everywhere; Connect them! and it should look like this:
Step 4: Now here is my favourite part/s! Now we are going to grab TileB tiny grass and put piece by piece everywhere. By what I mean is close your eyes and put one everywhere while moving your mouse. For now, Put only 6-20 of all grass separate. Do the same for all type of grass; 3 tiny's and Large. Don't make them all together. Put them separate on all parts of the map.
Step 5: Exactly same as Step 4 but now with flowers. Put them all around the map but don't overdo it and PUT THEM SEPARATE! Also use mushrooms, logs, stumps, rocks etc. just to decorate it. But don't use tree's just yet.
Step 6: Now we begin by putting trees use the pencil tool and start putting. Put alot this time and every few connect, its ok to replace a flower or something and you can make shapes around just look how it is done:
OPTIONAL 7: Hmm, looks done, right? Wrong, wait no it is... but there is an thing you can do, place some water! From the edges just use the pencil tool make a shape over the map and then fill it in with water. Put things in the water like waterlillies and maybe rocks. Also make some rows only of water and yeah look how it is done
Tips: If you see that there is an really big empty patch, put something in there dont make the map look blank!
Don't be shy to extend the map if you think its too small for your own well-being!
That concludes the demo!
Thank you and goodbye. More tutorials coming soon.
